Habilitation to Supervise Researches

The Habilitation to Supervise Researches (HDR) is a national diploma of higher education that can be obtained after a Ph.D.. It is the highest university degree. It is defined by regulation by the decree of 23 November 1988.

Obtaining this diploma recognizes the high scientific level of the candidate, the original nature of his approach in a field of science, his ability to provide an expertise in a research strategy in a sufficiently broad scientific or technological field and his ability to supervise young doctoral students.

This diploma makes it possible to apply for the University Professor position and to officially supervise doctoral students as thesis supervisors.
